“All that surrounds me is dignfied — a grand, venerable work of combined human energies, a noble monument, not of a ruler, but of a people”.

(Goethe – Letters from Italy)

There could be no better words than those chosen by Goethe to describe Venice, one of the most romantic city in the world. Me too, I have my own romantic memories in Venice and I can totally understand why you might have chosen Venice for your wedding, your elopement, to give your beloved your engagement promise, or just for a romantic trip together.

Getting Married In Venice

Venice is a truly magical city. The time seems to stand still here, gently following the rhythm of the waves in the lagoon. No one seems to be hurry and there is calm and serenity everywhere.

I always loved that unique combo of gothic and byzantine, of north and south, of east and west, everything connected by water.

So, if you’re looking for a location for your wedding in Venice you’re just spoilt for choice.

Through charming landscapes and elegant venues, this little precious gem won’t never let you down.

Are you planning a religious wedding? Then you might be interested in the fact that Venice is full of wonderful churches, such as Santa Maria dei Miracoli, considered one of the most scenographic.

Its peculiarity is a small inner stairway which leads to the altar and makes it truly one of a kind.

The exterior façade is covered with polychrome marble, while inside you can admire the light playing with the light-colored marbles.

The Church of Santa Fosca in Torcello is also an interesting choice, a rare architectural gem which would please any art lover.

Here the spatial proportions are in perfect harmony with the natural light.

And what if I tell you that you can get married in the Saint Mark’s Basilica (Basilica di San Marco)? Or in the beautiful Chiesa del Redentore?

Of course, there are plenty of choice also when it comes to public and private venues.

Starting from the the historical Palazzo Cavalli, in its exquisite venetian neo-gothic style, which is the very Town Hall of Venice and overlooks the Grand Canal, offering a wonderful view of the Rialto Bridge.

Equally wonderful are the Ca’ Farsetti and Ca’ Loredan palaces, one adjacent to the other and both built between the 12th and the 13th century, in Romanesque-Byzantine style.

The rooms which are now used for the celebration of the wedding ceremonies overlook the Grand Canal and have been inhabited by prestigious and noble Venetian families passionate about art and collecting, as can be seen from the luxurious interiors and frescoes.

When it comes to private venues, there are more than a few to name.

The elegance and magnificence of the Grand Hotel Bauer-Palladio, with its XVI century villas and residences, surrounded by lush gardens, its amazing terraces and restaurants, a place where everything is style and elegance and extreme attention for every detail.

Ca’ Sagredo, the 15th century palace become national monument, is another wonderful venetian-style palace on the Grand Canal. Full of art and echoes from the past, offers the most beautiful atmospheres and views, with its suggestive frescoed antique ballroom.

Luna Hotel Baglioni, known in the XVI as La Locanda Della Luna (the Moon Inn), is instead the oldest hotel in Venice, with its beautiful terraces overlooking San Giorgio Island and San Marco basin, which are ideal for exclusive outdoor receptions.

The most beautiful peculiarity of the palaces which rise on the Grand Canal, such as the stunning Sina Centurion palace, which mixes the most exquisite antique mood with modern design and materials, is the light that flows thought the multiple gothic windows facing the Canal.

That light is just the most magic and evocative light, if you are an art and architecture lover.

Surely we cannot forget the Belmond Hotel Cipriani, on the peaceful island of Giudecca.

It is the perfect venue for a luxury celebration which aim to mix opulent details and the typical venetian mood, enjoying the large spaces and the beautiful wooden terrace which overlook directly on the lagoon.

Venice can be the perfect place to celebrate the most luxurious and elegant event, with its unique scenery and mood. But it is more than often chosen as elopement or engagement destination.

Such a special city is really the ideal background for an equally special photoshoot.

One of my favorite suggestions is the Florian Café, with its enchanting antique atmosphere.

Here you can enjoy your drink, while the orchestra plays live the most beautiful classical pieces, bringing you to another time.

In Venice, you can wander through the calles, admiring the rays of sun flickering in figures always new and surprising.

At sunrise, you can walk through the silent alleys, breathing the crisp and wet air, and the colours are

colder and dimmer, until you see the first rays starting to warm up the lagoon.

On sunset instead, everything is just so warm and magical and intense.

Places like Murano and Burano, with their bright colors, just pop in the brightest sunlight of the Italian summer.

Perhaps the best way to get a the whole Venice at once is to take the classical gondola tour: architecture, canals, bridges, lagoons and everything that makes this city exciting and intense, especially at sunset.

But Venice also has a secret and mysterious charm behind the stone or concrete facades, which often hide lush gardens and courtyards of prestige.

Venice to me is one of those magical city, one of my favorite spots in the world, where there is always something else to see, something else to discover.

I totally understand why you might want to get married in Venice or why are you looking for someone to photograph your trip there.

Chances are that you’re going to collect the some of the most intense memories of your life in one of the most romantic and magical place in the world.
